Benefits
We Come To You
Bringing your sick computer in for repair can be a challenging and frustrating experience - disconnecting cables, moving heavy computer parts, hauling the kids around with you, and then getting the computer to fail in the shop the same way it does at home. That's why Mercury HouseCall comes to you. Our computer doctors arrive with the tools needed to get your computer up and running quick. Should your computer need hospitalization (overnight servicing), we'll pick it up and return it to you, cabled, connected, and ready to go.
Seven-Day Service
Our computer doctors are available evenings and weekends, and often on short notice, to come to your home when it's convenient for you.
Fast Turn-Around
Most upgrades and repairs are done on-site in under an hour. Should your computer need intensive care, such as a format and reload or in-depth analysis, we'll take your computer with us and do our best to complete all servicing in one to two days.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
HouseCalls are $80 an hour with a one-hour minimum. Should the doctor's visit take longer than an hour, additional time is billed at $20 every fifteen minutes. Needed parts and software are extra.
How long do HouseCalls take?
Most HouseCalls take an hour or less. If more time than an hour or parts or software is needed to restore your computer's health, the doctor will provide you with an estimate of these charges during the first hour of service. You may decline additional time, parts, and software, but the $80 HouseCall fee for the first hour of service always applies.
Where is it offered?
HouseCalls are available everywhere in Bay, Isabella, Midland, and Saginaw counties in Michigan and Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.
Does someone need to be at my house when the doctor arrives?
Yes. An adult, 18 years of age or older, must be at the house during the doctor's entire visit.
What if my computer cannot be fixed at my house?
If the repair is going to take longer than an hour, or special equipment is needed to return your computer to good health, the doctor may request to take the computer back to our repair clinic and bring it back at a later time. These repairs typically take one to two days, but may take longer. If this happens, we will give you an admittance slip with a date of expected discharge before taking your computer.
Why would you have to take my computer to your repair clinic?
Common reasons include difficult-to-diagnose hardware and software compatibility issues, format and reload operations, and times your computer needs to be serviced with tools not normally brought on-site. There will be a $60 an hour charge while the computer is worked on in our clinic. We will deliver it back to you, re-cabled and ready to use at no additional charge.
If you have to reload my computer, will I lose any important information?
If a format and reload is prescribed, your computer's hard drive will be wiped clean. For this reason, you should back up all of your important files off of your computer. If you cannot back up your own files, we can back them up onto a special server at our clinic for a $59 fee. If your hard drive is too badly damaged, we may not be able to backup and recover everything.
If the problem is hardware, am I required to have the new hardware for the doctor to install?
No. We have an inventory of quality parts that we recommend for your computer. You can choose doctor-recommended parts, or you can provide your own. Using doctor-recommended parts ensures fast repair and excellent operation, with your satisfaction guaranteed. All parts, no matter where they were purchased, are installed at our regular, hourly rate.
What if my computer is under warranty?
We recommend that you contact your computer dealer or manufacturer first. They may be able to service your computer at no charge. If they cannot help you, we will. Be aware that repair service by someone other than the manufacturer may void your warranty.
How is payment handled?
Payment is expected at the time service is rendered. Check, money order, and major credit cards are accepted.
